SEPTEMBER 2007 Doing our bit for society - Project Superhero On August 15, OTi conducted an ‘Achieving Personal Effectiveness’ workshop for 51 residents of The Helping Hand, a Christian halfway house reaching out to drug addicts, alcoholics and ex-offenders. Mrs. Helen Lim-Yang, CEO of OTi Consulting says, “Project Superhero, which was birthed in March 2007, is driven by our mission to make a difference in the lives of others and to be a part of a more compassionate society. Through the workshops for our beneficiaries, we hope we may touch and transform the lives of people who need a second chance to succeed in life.” At Andrew & Grace Home, Project Superhero reached out to teenage girls who are facing problems at home and seeking temporary refuge. On Wed, 22 August 07, OTi conducted a 2-hour workshop for the group of 44 girls on ‘Call to Greatness’ (a Personal Effectiveness workshop) to help them out in the areas of self-discovery according to DiSC Dimensions of Behavior. This is a non-judgmental language which helps people explore behavior across four primary dimensions: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness & Conscientiousness.

Getting Women Back To Work Seminar On 25 August 2007, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Women's Programme and the PAP Women's Wing jointly organized a 'Getting Women Back To Work' seminar for women looking to re-join the workforce. OTi Consultant, Catherine Choo, facilitated Kopitiam Investments Pte Ltd's showcase of its Mentorship Programme, one of the projects under the NTUC’s Job Re-creation Programme (JRP). The Mentorship Program was made possible through the collaboration between Kopitiam, NTUC and OTi Consulting (see our June Newsbytes http://www.oticonsulting.com/4.1.6_june.htm). The showcase was conducted in the format of a talk show and featured Kopitiam Group Human Resource Manager, Gina Chua, Mentor, Mdm Aw Yeong Poh Choo and new recruit, Mdm Fu Xue Ji. During the showcase, Xue Ji, a Counter Sales Assistant, shared that her fears of starting in a new job were significantly reduced because of proper guidance from her Mentor Poh Choo, one of the first 15 Kopitiam Team Leaders and Supervisors to be certified as a Mentor by OTi. In response, Poh Choo mentioned that the training she received from OTi made her more confident and prepared her well for her new role as a Mentor to her co-workers. OTi is heartened to know that the Mentoring Program is benefiting female staff in Kopitiam. We look forward to hearing many more testimonials like Poh Choo's and Xue Ji's in the future.
